Long discreet, grey manicure now asserts itself on our nails as THE signature shade for the sharpest looks. From bright light grey to deep anthracite nuances, metallic effects or stone-inspired, grey nails stand out and reinvent themselves season after season. Fashion inspirations, nail art ideas, and tips to adopt this iconic color, let's explore all facets of this unique shade.
Grey, the manicure trend to follow
Long considered uninteresting, grey is now a trendy shade in the manicure world. Halfway between black and white, it offers the perfect balance: neither too intense nor too neutral. The result? An easy-to-wear color, never boring, to adopt in classic Green™ polishes or Green Flash™ semi-permanent polishes.
Fall-Winter: understated elegance and minimalist chic
In the cold season, dark grey nails take center stage. Inspired by textile materials and urban landscapes, deep colors offer a structured and contemporary elegance.
This is evident at Hermès where dark grey makes a strong comeback in the Fall-Winter 2026 collection. The grey nail polish Anthracite embodies this intense grey with charcoal accents, almost earthy. A vibrant, sophisticated, and bold shade that, once applied, reveals a grey nail with unexpected warmth.
You can also bet on Mist Grey, a subtle greyish blue, between stormy sky and mineral rock, inspired by misty high-altitude landscapes. It delicately complements light skin tones and creates a lovely contrast on dark skin. A shade in tune with the times, also highlighted by Alaïa.
Another option for the cold season: Tweed, a grey nail polish with warm undertones, subtly pearly. A soft shade with textured effects, whose pearly shine works wonders on an urban look, like the structured coat by Issey Miyake!

💡Good to know: vary your grey manicures by opting for matte finishes, a velvet nails style that enhances your winter looks.
Spring-Summer: natural shades and metallic accents
When the warm days arrive, grey softens and reinvents itself as an alternative to pastel shades, the traditional colors of spring. Light grey or slightly tinted nails (with green or beige) become perfect allies for a refined and radiant manicure.
Starting with Clay, this taupe grey at the crossroads of chestnut brown and soft grey. A shade also seen on the beautiful deconstructed suit from the Spring-Summer 2026 collection of Acne Studios. A tone that stands out as essential and flatters all skin tones with precision.
We also think of Sauge, a grey-green nuanced polish with vegetal accents, bringing a soft freshness to the hands. Spotted on the Spring-Summer 2026 runway of Balmain and its stunning draped models, this color pairs perfectly with a soft and ultra-modern wardrobe.
As for Disco, it makes your nails sparkle with its silver glitter! Your best friend when it comes to lighting up your summer nights and adding a touch of glamour to every move. Same inspiration from Valentino and its metallic dress, so 70’s.

Our grey nail art ideas
Grey is also an ideal base to unleash your creativity. Its neutrality allows you to play with contrasts, textures, and shapes.
French manicure charcoal
The French manicure is reinvented with a touch of dark grey. On a translucent nude base or a milky white like Milky White, replace the traditional white line with a fine brush stroke of Anthracite on the free edge of the nails. A micro french version, so clean girl.
Summer half nails
Create this grey nail art on a base of white polish Snow. Pair with Tweed, a slightly pearly grey, applied on the upper part of the nail for a controlled graphic effect. Ideal for short nails or rounded square nail shapes. Stylish and modern!

Grey polka dots
Polka dots are making a comeback! As a base, apply the elegant pale grey Mist Grey, then add small glazed brown dots with Freckles using a dotting tool. Guaranteed retro and playful effect.
Metallic accents
A nail art with silver accents? It’s possible with Disco! Draw fine abstract patterns with a liner brush, like a wave outlining the nail edge, on a Sauge base for ultra trendy chrome nails.
Metallic waves or polka dots in plumetis style, grey nail arts are so delicate.

Grey marble nails
These marbled effects in shades of grey turn your manicure into a work of art. Place a few drops of polish Anthracite, Milky White, and Tweed on your nails and create marbled effects by gently mixing the 3 colors with the tip of a fine brush. A technical nail art for aspiring nail artists 😉

Our tips to extend your grey manicure
A beautiful manicure always starts with a good routine. Here are the essential steps to enhance and prolong your grey nails.
Prepare your nails
To ensure an even and lasting result, prepare your base before applying your polish:
- File your nails with a soft nail file to give them a neat and harmonious shape.
- Soften the cuticles with emollient and push them back with a cuticle pusher.
- Open the keratin scales by buffing the nail surface with a preparatory file.
- Degrease and clean the nail surface with a gentle remover or degreaser.
Apply your polish in 4 layers
Here are our tips for long-lasting stone nails and a perfect finish:
- Apply a thin layer of protective base coat suited to the chosen polish (Green Base Coat or Green Flash™ Vitamin Base Coat).
- Apply your grey polish in two thin layers letting each dry well, in open air for Green™ polish, under LED lamp for Green Flash™ polish.
- Finish with a layer of top coat that will provide the desired effect (matte or shiny finishes) and protect the manicure over time.
- On Green™ polish, you can apply the Top Coat Sunshine or the Matte Top Coat (tenue 7 days).
- On Green Flash™ polish, you can apply the Top Coat Green Flash™ (tenue 12 days) or the ultra-shiny top coat Xtrem Flash™ (tenue 21 days).
💡Tip: always prefer thin layers to avoid bubbles and optimize drying and tenue.
Hydrate and nourish your nails
To keep your gray nails strong and radiant, apply a few drops of Huile Verte with a daily massage. This ultra-nourishing cuticle and nail oil is perfect for soothing the nail edges and nourishing dry cuticles. Well hydrated, your nails are more resistant and your manicure lasts longer.
Prepare, apply, hydrate, and enjoy your manicure even longer.
Gray is therefore an infinitely versatile color. Far from being tame, it is a field of exploration, a shade that captures light and embraces the seasons. Sometimes soft, urban, almost mineral, or subtly precious, it reinvents itself according to textures and desires. On the nails, it becomes a modern obvious choice: neither too much nor too little. Just the right amount of style. Gray is worn like a second skin, with that effortless elegance we love so much. And maybe, in the end, true boldness is just that?
