Elevate your nail game with pearl and oyster nails: the hottest summer 2024 manicure trends

3 min to read

Inspired by the natural beauty of shimmering pearls and the inside of oyster shells, pearl and oyster nails combine pearlescent tones with 3D textures. Here we explain how to own this trend by creating radiant nails straight from the ocean depths.

Oyster nail art using the colours Moon and Lemonade: follow this tutorial right to the end to nail it!

Pearl Nails

The pearl nail trend evolved from soap nails and still has a feel of quiet luxury but with a summery twist. This manicure is ideal for anyone who wants to add a touch of elegance to their natural nails. It works best with pale colours, switching between white and pink, but always with a pearlescent shimmer. It is a sophisticated, elegant alternative to nude nails.

For high-shine nails with a slightly pink pearly shimmer, opt for our pearlescent Carnation polish.

For a pearlescent manicure in an opaque pale pink with a subtle shimmer, Gloss is the colour for you.

Embrace the 2024 manicure trend of pearl nails with Moon, our ultra-bright white for nails with a shimmering finish.

Oyster Nails

Oyster nails are a slightly more elaborate version of pearl nails with added texture and additional shine for a unique, maximalist nail art look. It's the perfect opportunity to have fun with 3D textures, marble effects, metallic accents and chrome details on long nails. These are layered onto a coloured base and then our Special-Effect Powders are added to create a pearly or mirror sheen.

More of a minimalist? Get this high-shine oyster nail effect at home using our Special-Effect Powder: a subtle pearly shimmer you can add to your chosen colour with a foam brush. For a mirror shine with a slightly blue iridescence, use our Glazed-Effect Powder. For oyster nails that flirt with the metallic nail trend, our Mirror-Effect Powder is the one for you.

Minimalist Oyster Nails

For a more minimalist look, you can replicate the soft, light texture inside an oyster shell using our Dotting Tool when you apply the second coat of colour. The idea is to draw light waves that create the maximum amount of shimmer on the nail and capture the light. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3!

1. Nail prep

Making sure your nails are clean, soften and push back the cuticles using our Cuticle Remover and Cuticle Pusher. Shape the nail with our Emery Board for natural nails and lightly buff the surface with our Nail Priming Emery Board to help the base coat to adhere.

2. Apply the Green™ Base Coat

Apply a thin layer of Base Coat to ensure the polish adheres properly and cap the nail tip for maximum staying power.

3. Apply the colours Lemonade and Moon

Apply alternate dots of Lemonade and Moon polish to each nail.

4. Create texture with our Dotting Tool

Use the Dotting Tool to mix the dots of colour together in a circular motion. Continue until the whole nail surface is covered.
